Sea Turtle Bracelet

The Marine Turtle Research Group (MTRG) has a formal agreement and collaborative program with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the managers of the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge (ACNWR). They have covered beaches and inland waters for over 30 years. UCF will continue to monitor and conduct research on one of the world's most important sea turtle nesting beaches into the next decades. MTRG has a long term agreement with permission to build a new, state of the art, marine sea turtle facility at their beach field site on the ACNWR in Melbourne Beach, FL.

MTRG permanent field sites are located on the coast, over 70 miles from the Orlando UCF campus. The MTRG houses one of the longest and largest sea turtle datasets in the world. This dataset is essential to international, federal, and state managers tasked with the protection and recovery of the endangered and threatened sea turtle populations—including populations utilizing central Florida’s terrestrial and marine habitats.
